Abstract:To realize the sanitation status of the restaurants, various types of schools and kindergartens in Donghu District, Nanchang, 820 specimens of cooking utensils and tablewares from restaurants in 40 universities, middle and primary schools and kindergartens were collected and tested for bacterial contamination by the slip diffusion method according to the national GB 14934-1994 standard. Overall, 64 % of the specimens were microbiologically qualified. Various sterilization approaches exerted different effects and the sanitary qualification rate varied from unit to unit. The results of the investigation indicate that the sanitation status of the restaurants in the schools of this district should be improved and that the medical administrative department and the education administrative department should strengthen their cooperative effort to better the food safety of the students and children.
