Abstract:In July 2001, the Health Bureau of Yancheng Jiangsu Province administered an judgment of burning out the sick and dead chickens and a penalty of 6 000 RMB to a food merchant who had purchased 585 kg sick and dead chickens to produce food. However, the food merchant prosecuted an appeal for disobedience to the punishment. The People's Court of Yancheng heard the case and affirmed the original judgment in consideration of the clear proof and irrefutable testimony. Some experiences and lessons were learned by the health administrative agencies from this lawsuit.
