    Abstract:

    Iron deficiency is one of the major health problems in the world especially in the developing countries. The most critically affected population are infants, school-age children and women of child-bearing age. In spite of that there are several measures to improve or maintain iron status in a target population, the iron-fortified food is considered to be the most effective. This paper briefly reviewed the successful iron fortification programs or trials conducted worldwide and summarized the iron fortificants and technics.
